WHY IT EXISTS
The 4430A is where Smart IP becomes particularly interesting for cinema design. It combines useful output, controlled directivity, active amplification and network audio in a compact enclosure that can suit surrounds, wides and smaller front-channel applications.

Smart IP carries audio, loudspeaker management and PoE power over Ethernet. Genelec specifies compatibility with both Dante and AES67 streams, and uses Smart IP Manager for device discovery, room EQ, organisation and status monitoring.

Smart IP is not GLM/SAM. The 4430A is configured with Smart IP Manager, and a cinema processor or interface still has to provide a routable Dante/AES67 channel feed.

CINEMA ROLE

Where it can make sense.

01

Surrounds / backs / wides

A sensible role when distance and target level are within the model’s capability.

02

Compact LCR applications

A sensible role when distance and target level are within the model’s capability.

03

Networked active cinemas where rack amplifier channels are intentionally reduced

NETWORK ARCHITECTURE
The loudspeaker becomes a network endpoint.
01Cinema processor / AoIP interfaceCreates the required channel feeds.
02Managed PoE+ switchAudio network + power distribution.
034430ADante/AES67 + DSP + amplification.
PoE standardIEEE 802.3at PoE+ is the recommended design target for maximum loudspeaker performance.
NetworkGigabit Ethernet and QoS are the sensible basis for a cinema carrying multiple network-audio channels.
RoutingDante Controller can configure Dante streams. AES67 routing and clocking still need a correctly designed network.
ControlSmart IP Manager handles setup; the public API can integrate day-to-day functions with a control system.

MANUFACTURER REFERENCE

Confirm current product data before specification.

Smart IP is an installed-audio platform. Its value in a private cinema depends on the processor/interface, switch architecture, channel routing, PoE budget, placement and target SPL being designed together.
