WHY IT EXISTS
The room hears less of the floor and ceiling.
The L8i uses a 48-inch planar-magnetic line source above 550 Hz with eight proprietary woofers below. The geometry is intended to reduce vertical room interaction while maintaining broad horizontal coverage.
In a multi-row theatre, that can be a more important advantage than simply adding more output.
