WHY IT EXISTS
The loudspeaker becomes an architectural acoustic element.
With an 80-inch planar line source, the LS4 is fundamentally different from a conventional floorstanding loudspeaker. Wisdom quotes output in excess of 130 dB at 12 feet, but the more interesting story is how the tall source distributes energy through a large room.
The LS4 requires external active crossover/DSP and two channels of amplification, so the system architecture needs to be designed around it from the start.
